Cameron's £7k boost for rugby club

Cameron Homes has has given Burton Rugby Club’s new premises a £7,000 boost.

Cameron Homes, which is behind a large housing development called Lawnswood at Tatenhill, has handed over the money to help the club fit out its new base.

The expanding club, which has around 20 teams, moved from its old ground in the town centre to a new site off Branston Road in Tatenhill earlier this year.

The donation will specifically be used for kitchen equipment enabling the club to provide a hospitality service to members and generate income from their new home.

Yvonne Tweddle, chair of promotions at the rugby club said: “As a community focussed organisation we have been overwhelmed by the support for our move.

“Cameron Homes, as a local company and our neighbour, not only share our values but understand the importance of building a community together in Tatenhill.

“We are incredibly grateful for their support and are very much looking forward to welcoming the residents who have moved into their new homes to share our games and events.”

The £7,000 donation will go towards fitting the kitchen in the new clubhouse.

Matthew Carr of Cameron Homes said that the family-owned company was always pleased to be able to support local organisations which promoted health and well being.

“It is an exciting time for us to be involved with Burton Rugby Club and we hope this will be the start of a long-standing partnership,” he commented.

Cameron is building a total of 70 four and five-bedroom homes at Lawnswood, which sits within the new Branston Locks site.
