Now that the warmer weather has arrived, it's time to turn your attention to your outdoor space and make it your own, ready for summer.

One of the biggest benefits of a new build home is the blank canvas that the garden provides. Unlike older properties where previous owners may have already left their mark, a new build allows you to design your dream garden from scratch.

Here are some tips to get you started on creating your perfect summer garden:

Home at the Manor

Planning is key

Before you dive headfirst into planting and landscaping, take some time to plan your garden. Consider the amount of sunlight that the different areas will receive throughout the day, as well as how you want to use the space. Will it be a place to relax and entertain, a home for wildlife, or a space for growing your own food?

Make it your own

There are no right or wrong answers when it comes to garden design, it all comes down to personal preference. Do you love the look of colourful flower beds filling the perimeter of your garden or perhaps a minimalist Japanese-inspired garden is more your style? Find inspiration on social media platforms, such as Instagram, Pinterest, and gardening magazines, to create a mood board that reflects your vision.

Start small

Don't be overwhelmed by the idea of landscaping your entire garden at once, start with a small manageable section and gradually add to it over time. This will help you stay on budget and will help to ensure that the different areas complement one another.

Think about seating

Your garden should be a place to relax and unwind. Invest in comfortable seating, cushions and outdoor blankets that reflect your style and encourage you to spend time outdoors. Patio dining, sofa sets, hammocks, and benches are all great options to consider.

Lighting is everything

String lights, solar lights, and strategically placed lanterns can transform your garden into a magical space for those warmer evenings spent outside. Lighting helps to add ambiance and will allow you to enjoy your outdoor space long after the sun goes down.

Add a fire feature

The addition of a fire pit or fire table can be incredibly relaxing and complement the surrounding nature of our rural developments.  Features such as this are the perfect final touches to your garden space, allowing you to enjoy it during both the day and night.

With a little planning and creativity, you can transform your new home garden into a beautiful and inviting outdoor space that you, your family, and friends can enjoy all summer long.
