The Mare and Colt is housed in a Victorian building set on the edge of the busy A449 thoroughfare. Though once part of the small stand-alone village of Summerfield the area where the pub stands has now been absorbed by the growing town of Kidderminster. The pub itself has been in existence since Victorian times. Long before the word ‘mini-chain’ existed, this pub was part of one. Back in the mid-19th century the Mare and Colt along with three other pubs in the area was owned by a local family. Inside the bar, a charmingly old-fashioned maze-like layout provides recesses where guests can dine on traditional British cuisine, drink real ale and relax while an outdoor garden space complete with tables and sun-shielding parasols overlooks the road.
